Kanye West to christen Coachella’s second weekend with Sunday Service series
Coachella‘s weekend two crowd won’t get an average Easter Sunday mass—they’ll get Kanye West‘s viral Sunday Service. West will bring his live choral concept to the Indio Valley festival on April 21, where the rapper will host the Sunday Service session at 9:00 a.m. The live performance will be a weekend two exclusive.
Aptly titled, Sunday Service is West’s traveling adaptation of the religious choir that would traditionally lead a church congregation in song during a Sunday mass. But unlike the customary church choir, Kanye’s Sunday Services singers’ repertoire ranges far beyond the conventional psalms. West’s Sunday Service has delivered gospel renditions of songs like Mary J Blige‘s “Real Love,” and Kid Cudi‘s “Reborn,” as well as various West originals, like “Heard ‘Em Say” and of course “Jesus Walks.”
