Kanye West's much-anticipated 'Jesus Is King' arrives [stream] – EDM All Day
Kanye West has been outspoken in his faith over the years, and in 2019, it’s been a cornerstone force in his creative direction. After many months of fine-tuning, changed release dates, and general anticipation, the long-awaited Jesus Is King has now arrived—and is a culmination of what we’ve seen in his public life over the past couple years. Jesus Is King is more-or-less his Sunday Service show concept captured in form, and likewise includes quite a few singles debuted during his extended run of shows he’s hosted through the year. “Water”—a standout number featuring Ant Clemons providing an empassioned vocal performance—was premiered during his Coachella Sunday Service, for example. The album is a brief listen, clocking in at under 30 minutes across its 11 tracks.
Although Jesus Is King has received some mixed reviews upon release, ultimately nothing can stop the listening frenzy around it. It’s looking to become Kanye’s ninth solo album to top the Billboard 200 chart, and has topped most of Spotify’s main charts. So far, it’s outpacing his last record, Ye, from the year before.
