Kavinsky’s ‘Nightcall’ Becomes Most-Shazamed Song In A Day Following Olympics Closing Ceremony

Last Sunday’s Closing Ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris saw the return of ‘Nightcall’, the 2010 banger from French DJ/producer Kavinsky that allowed fans to turn back the musical clock. The Closing Ceremony provided a lot of musical thrills coming from the likes of French singer-songwriter Yseult, Belgian artist Angèle, Cambodian rapper VannDa, American lead vocalist and guitarist Ezra Koenig from Vampire Weekend, and French Indie Rock band Phoenix.
This is the same Closing Ceremony that also had Justice, the iconic French Electronic music duo, providing a grand performance for the world to marvel too. As for Phoenix, most notable for hit songs ‘1901’ and ‘Lisztomania’, the band brought on their fellow countryman, Kavinsky, himself to the delight of the crowd inside the Stade de France stadium, and especially when he played ‘Nightcall’. The top three countries that had the most people Shazaming the track were France, the United States, and Mexico. The day before the Closing Ceremony, the track had 281,000 total global on-demand streams according to music data and insights company Luminate. During the live performance of the track, which also featured the appearance of the aforementioned Belgian artist Angèle, there were 6,921,000 Shazams of it.
