Keith Flint tribute set at Glastonbury Festival in jeopardy over publicity concerns

Just days after plans for Glastonbury Festival‘s ‘Keith Flint Appreciation Hour‘ were announced, Prodigy guitarist Gizz Butt has revealed that the tribute event will no longer be taking place in a series of now-deleted Facebook posts. Butt, who was set to DJ the hour with classic Prodigy tunes and some previously unreleased material, explained his reasons for the cancellation on Facebook over the weekend.

According to Butt, the cancellation is due to how the event was received by the press and those closest to Flint. He noted, “People are seeing it as an act of self promotion and I never wanted that.” Continuing in a second Facebook post, Butt doubles down on the positive intentions behind the set, now looking to create mental health awareness in a way that is respectful and sensitive to those grieving Flint’s passing. The posts have since been deleted, leaving the planned tribute in a place of uncertainty as Glastonbury inches closer.
