Kompakt marks 500th release with compilation, book and exhibit

Featuring tracks from Michael Mayer, Laurent Garnier, DJ Koze, The Orb, Superpitcher, and more.

German electronic label Kompakt has announced ‘Kompakt 500’, a 50-track compilation marking its 500th release. Spanning 33 years of music, the collection will be accompanied by a 144-page photobook and a five-LP vinyl box set.

Set for release in digital and physical formats, ‘Kompakt 500’ brings together contributions from label icons and longtime collaborators including Laurent Garnier, Robag Wruhne, DJ Koze, The Field, The Orb, Superpitcher, Rex The Dog, Reinhard Voigt, Anna & Kittin, Terranova, Jürgen Paape, Voigt & Voigt, Matias Aguayo, John Tejada, Gui Borato, GusGus,  Michael Mayer, and many more.

The photobook dives into Kompakt’s rich visual history, featuring archival images and iconic design works, such as Veronika Unland’s cover art for the Pop Ambient series and the label’s distinctive eagle emblem.

To celebrate, Kompakt will also open a dedicated exhibition at Cologne’s Kölnischer Kunstverein museum, launching May 23rd with a special party featuring DJ and live sets from key artists in the label’s history.
