Kygo and Sasha Sloan rejoin for tropical house purity on 'I'll Wait'
Hardly two weeks removed from the announcement that his third studio album, Golden Hour, would be entering as his first full-length release since 2017, Kygo has now turned in back-to-back singles. Reconvening alongside songstress Sasha Sloan for a follow-up to their first go-around, “This Town,” the duo is easing the quarantine agony in the form of “I’ll Wait.” The release immediately trails the lead Golden Hour delivery that appeared in late March on “Like It Is” with Zara Larsson and Tyga.
Staggeringly disparate from both the pairing’s preceding collaboration in addition to the album’s initial crossover, “I’ll Wait” gracefully reminisces on Kygo’s tropical house that was employed in his early remixes and Cloud Nine. Per usual, Sasha Sloan breeds a sincere vocal that plays beside Kygo’s refined piano chords before breaking into his emblematic tropical lead that would have endlessly echoed into summer festival audiences.
If Kygo’s two singles in two weeks trend appears as any indication into the Golden Hour blueprint, the album’s exhaustive release may arrive much sooner than later.
