Lane 8 and Yotto lift spirits on first ever collaboration, 'I/Y'
Anjunadeep label-mates Lane 8 and Yotto have joined forces for the first time on a blissfully progressive collaboration, “I/Y.”
Released on Lane 8’s This Never Happened, the new track follows a busy run for both deep house heavyweights, with Lane 8 recently dropping his seasonal summer mixtape series and Yotto coming off a massive Hyperfall tour and releasing a string of new music, including his Anjunadeep 10 track “Nothing Like You” with SØNIN and a Hyperfall remix package. Both will be at Anjunadeep presents: Explorations festival; Yotto is slated for Anjunadeep Open Air dates later this summer and Lane 8 will continue playing dates for his This Never Happened show.
The track opens with light orchestral strings, quickly introducing Lane 8’s distinctive plucky synths and a rhythmic bass that establishes energy before it shutters out to ambient strings again. Playing with careful layers and delicate textures, the track slowly crescendos into a momentous release, accompanied by a finally-realized drum-line before passing ephemerally and closing out with mellow chords.
By withholding certain track elements and simultaneously building and deconstructing layers, Lane 8 and Yotto showcase their ability to craft euphoria in a manner that only those with an innate understanding of progressive storytelling can.
