Listen to Four Tet and Madlibs collaborative single “Road Of The Lonely Ones”
It’s finally here, listen to the first new music from electronic enigma Four Tet and pioneering beat-smith Madlibs yet to be named concept album.
The pairs original works had been teased for a moment now with news first appearing in October and now we not only have new music but an album release date.
Turns out the full release (penned for January) is actually a concept album, something sonically founded by Madlib but composed by Four Tet as explained by the man himself;
I put this concept to him when we were hanging out eating some nice food one day and we decided to work on this together with him sending me tracks, loops, ideas, and experiments that I could arrange, edit, manipulate, and combine. I was sent hundreds of pieces of music over a couple years stretch and during that time I put together this album with all the parts that fitted with my vision.
On first listen of the first new single “Road Of The Lonely Ones”, you can hear just that with soulful vocals bedded on snappy drums and oozing with flavour. While it’s overly understated, it leaves us wanting even more… a classic tactic of Four Tet.
The concept album caps off a monstrous year for Four Tet having released his ‘Sixteen Oceans’ album, remixing good friend Caribou and even dropping a split EP with Radioheads Thom Yorke and Burial.
