With a career that spans over two decades and a presence in the European scene since the early 2000s, the now Barcelona-based artist has built a legacy grounded in passion, innovation, and connection with the crowd.

From his early days as a resident DJ at legendary Brazilian clubs to leading projects that helped shape the country’s electronic music culture, Lukas has always been driven by a love for the dancefloor. As he celebrates 25 years in the game, he marks the occasion with the release of his ‘Blood Moon’ EP and a string of special performances across Europe.

In this conversation, Lukas reflects on the journey so far, talks about his upcoming releases, and shares his thoughts on the current state of hard techno.

EG: Hi, Lukas! Welcome to EG. It’s a pleasure to have you here with us. How have you been? Where are you right now?

Lukas: I’ve been doing great. Thanks for asking. I’m at home right now. Barcelona!

EG: First of all, congratulations on 25 years as a Hard Techno exponent! It must have been quite the ride for you so far? Did you ever think you’d be doing this for 25 years? What are some of your thoughts as you look back?

Lukas: I have to be honest here and admit that when I started all this, I did picture myself doing it for all this time. I really went “all in” from day one! Even though I had imagined this since my early days, it’s amazing to think of all that I experienced on this wild journey. I’ve met so many amazing people, visited so many countries, played from really strange and weird events to the most amazing clubs and festivals. Since I started, I always wanted to live my dreams and this is what still guides and thrives me on a daily basis. I feel very blessed that I am able to work with what I’m so passionate for and I’m always looking forward to the surprises and possibilities that tomorrow may bring!

EG: And, to commemorate this landmark occasion, you’re dropping your new ‘Blood Moon’ EP this April 21st. Congratulations, again! What has the initial reception been like so far for the new EP? What does this particular record mean to you?

Lukas: I only showed these tracks to a very close and selected group of friends/artists. Feedback has been very good. I have also played the tracks a few times already, and they have been getting some great reactions. This EP is a special one for me as it brings together a lot of what I learned during all this time in the industry. The 2 tracks are very different from each other, but still maintain an identity that defines my style, and this is something great to achieve.

EG: What can your fans expect to find on ‘Blood Moon’? Is there a concept driving this record?

Lukas: I did try to have 2 tracks that balance each other to form a strong and solid record. ‘Blood Moon’ has a strong melody. The main loop is strong and driving, but still a bit more clean, so the melodic elements have more room to sound and really stand out. ‘Push It’ is more straight on your face. I just wanted an aggressive track that doesn’t give much rest to the listener. It is very driving and powerful, with a voice that brings some context to the craziness I sought when producing it. The acid synth brings closure to this wild beast.

EG: Since we’re still on the release front…we do know you’ve got a couple of releases in store for the next few months. Is there anything you can anticipate for us on that front?

Lukas: There is some great music coming out soon. There is a collaboration with the Spanish artist Vendex that will be coming out in April on Audiocode Records. I have a remix in collaboration with Fernanda Martins for the German artist PRAKAS that will also come out in June. And I’ve been doing a lot of collabs with some amazing artists besides working on my solo tracks, also. This year will be full of surprises!

EG: 25 years being such an important landmark in your career, are there any special plans to celebrate accordingly?

Lukas: I did want to make this year a special one. I’m mainly focusing on releasing more music than I usually do. There will be some special shows also, but that is still a bit too soon to talk about!

EG: Now, being such a pioneering name in the realm of Hard Techno…how do you personally feel about the rise in its popularity this past year? Is any kind of growth good, or should some things be “gatekept”?

Lukas: It’s great to see the style I love reaching more people all over the world. Nothing is only good in life, so of course, this growth brought some negative aspects. I honestly prefer to focus on the good parts. I can only control what I do, so I simply focus on doing my very best and having a positive impact in the scene/industry.

EG: Looking forward, what can we expect from Lukas? Where can your fans catch you next?

Lukas: You can find me at DURO Barcelona – Spain (April 19th) together with Fernanda Martins in a very special 4 decks (4 CDJs and 2 mixers) set, Skillz – Belgium on April 26th, Blackworks Granada – Spain (May 3rd), May 10th for Drknss Festival – Spain, Vigo (Hyperlink, May 17th), Ciudad Real – Spain (Pulse Festival, May 31st), Code Summer Festival at Fabrik Madrid – Spain, (July 12th).

EG: Thank you so much for your time, Lukas! We wish you all the best in the future. Take care!

Lukas: Thank you for having me. Dream on!
