Manila Killa offers fresh perspective on San Holo's 'lift me from the ground' [Stream]

San Holo blessed the world last year with his aptly titled debut LP, album1. With 12 tracks in total on the release, it did an exquisite job of capturing his eclectic, unpredictable production style.

Now, just over a year later, the album’s remix package is out, once again donning a purposefully plain headline: album1 (a lot of remixes). In this case, “a lot” means 15 remixes from the likes of various line-blurring producers including Rootkit and Tails, but a standout remix comes from The Philippines’ own Manila Killa who sunk his sonic teeth into “lift me from the ground” featuring Sofie Winterson.

What San Holo started as a soothing, half-time serenade, Manila Killa finished as a gliding house music composition. Neither the original nor this remix went deep into the sound-design reaches of the future-bass San Holo is known for. Rather this was a track that displayed it’s creator’s range, and Manila Kill took the opportunity to do the same.
