Fresh off the release of his latest collaborative single ‘Bonito’ and the successful completion of his ‘Taka Taka Tour,’ MichaelBM sits down with EG to discuss his recent achievements, creative process, and future plans. This exclusive interview offers a glimpse into the mind of Michael Bernal Moreira, covering topics from his innovative use of AI in music production to his thoughts on the evolving electronic music landscape.
EG: Hi, Michael! Welcome back to EG. It’s a pleasure to have you here with us. How have you been? Where are you right now?
MichaelBM: Hey! It’s always a pleasure to be here with you guys. I’ve been fantastic, just riding the wave of this incredible year. Right now, I’m in Barcelona, soaking up the summer vibes and getting ready for my next show. It’s been a whirlwind, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
EG: How has your summer been so far? What would you highlight about this 2024 season?
MichaelBM: This summer has been nothing short of amazing! The energy at every gig has been off the charts, and the crowds have been absolutely wild. If I had to highlight one thing about the 2024 season, it would be the global love for Latin house music. Everywhere I go, people are embracing the sound, and it’s incredible to see our culture being celebrated on such a massive scale.
EG: Congratulations on the release of your latest collaborative single, ‘Bonito’! You must be amped to finally have this one out. What has the initial reception been like? Do you remember the first time you played this one live?
MichaelBM: Thank you! Yes, I’m beyond excited to finally share ‘Bonito’ with the world. The initial reception has been incredible—people are really connecting with the track’s vibe. I remember the first time I played it live; it was at a beach party in Ecuador, and the crowd went absolutely nuts. Seeing that reaction made all the hard work worth it.
EG: ‘Bonito’ draws inspiration from a Spanish classic, right? What can your fans expect to find here?
MichaelBM: Absolutely! ‘Bonito’ pays homage to the iconic Spanish song while giving it a fresh, modern twist. Fans can expect a perfect blend of nostalgic vibes and cutting-edge Latin house beats. It’s a track that bridges generations, bringing something familiar yet new to the dance floor.

EG: And ‘Bonito’ finds you linking up with your friends Twenty Six and Tech It Deep. How did the project come to be? Did you guys have a clear horizon when you decided to have a go at it? How did your relationship with Twenty Six and Tech It Deep come about?
MichaelBM: The project came about very organically. Twenty Six, Tech It Deep and I have always shared a mutual respect for each other’s work, and we’ve been wanting to collaborate for a while. When we finally got in the studio, everything just clicked. We didn’t have a strict plan; we just let the music guide us. Our relationship has always been based on a shared passion for pushing boundaries, and that’s exactly what we did with ‘Bonito’.
EG: Following the releases of ‘Beware’, ‘Wiki’, and now ‘Bonito’…is there anything else incoming?
MichaelBM: Oh, absolutely! I’ve got a few more surprises up my sleeve. There are some exciting collaborations and solo tracks that I’m really excited to share. I’m always working on something new, so my fans can definitely expect more bangers before the year is out. Stay tuned!
EG: By the way, you just wrapped your ‘Taka Taka Tour’, which began in Argentina back in February. What was the tour like? Any favorite cities? Had you done anything that big before?
MichaelBM: The ‘Taka Taka Tour’ was an unforgettable experience. Every city had its own unique energy, but if I had to pick favorites, I’d say Buenos Aires and Quito really stood out. The passion and love for music there are just on another level. This was the biggest tour I’ve ever done, and it was incredible to see the support and love from fans all over the world.
EG: Now, on to one of those hot current subjects…What’s your stance on AI? Do you see it driving the scene forward? Has any form of AI been applied in your recent productions?
MichaelBM: AI is taking music production to another level. I’ve tried the vocal splitter AI for my remixes, and it helped me to create some of my biggest remixes played around the world by big artists such as Cloonee or Gordo. Although you have to keep in mind that music is a vibe and you will always need human magic to create art.

EG: Finally, what can we expect from MichaelBM in the next few months? Where can your fans catch you playing live?
MichaelBM: The next few months are going to be packed! I’ve got new music on the way, more collaborations, and hopefully when I get my VISA approved, I’ll be hitting up some tours across the USA and Latin America. Fans can catch me live at events and my own headline shows. It’s going to be a wild ride, and I can’t wait to see everyone on the dance floor!
EG: Thank you so much for your time, Michael! We wish you all the best for the future. Take care!
MichaelBM: Thank you so much! It’s always a pleasure talking with you. I appreciate the support, and I’m looking forward to what the future holds. See you soon!
