Nicolas Jaar assists on forthcoming FKA album, 'Magdalene'
Composer Nicolas Jaar has never shied away from exploratory realms of music with his prolific discography of experimental releases, club world surveillance, and movements under alias Against All Logic. When FKA twigs revealed in an interview with i-D that Jaar had lent a hand on her newest studio album Magdalene, the notion of the two forces of eccentricity made instant and utter sense.
Magdalene is FKA’s first full-length LP since 2014’s LP1. The self-produced album came to fruition during a period of solitude for FKA, reaching its completion across stints in London, New York, and Los Angeles. FKA notes in the interview that she began work on Magdalene three years ago, pre-dominantly alongside Jaar and a sundry of other contributors. Future also appears on the album on track, “Holy Terrain.”
“The record is about every lover that I’ve ever had, and every lover that I’m going to have”, FKA stated. “It’s really fragile. I made it at a time when I was in recovery – physically and emotionally – and I think that comes through.”
Magdalene will be released this fall on Young Turks.
