Peggy Gou‘s reworked a crowned jewel of the underground, embedding the captivating crossover style she’s dubbed “Acid Journey” on Shakedown’s “At Night.”
Taking to her Instagram to express her happiness of working on the track, Gou’s quite proud of this one, as she should be: “Sometimes it’s not easy to do a remix when the original is too good already its pressure but because the original sounds, the stems are good it wasn’t also difficult either if that makes sense.”
An iconic track from the Swiss brothers Mandrax and Seb K, Gou’s been playing this track out for a bit now in her live shows. As the track finally sees the light of day in full on the internet, it’s clear she’s delivered a seriously squelching seven-minute heater, lifting the iconic synth motif with her newfound rolling syncopation. Saturated synths and interplanetary breakdowns guide the listener through the number, and as Shakedown brings their good feels to the iconic ’80s track, Gou adds an irresistible after-hours charm.
