Perfume Genius announces fifth studio album, shares first single 'Describe'

Perfume Genius has announced his fifth studio album Set My Heart on Fire Immediately due May 15 Matador Records. The forthcoming LP follows the indie pop artist’s 2017 album No Shape. Along with the announcement, Perfume Genius also shared a new single “Describe” and its music video.

Directed by Perfume Genius himself, the music video features choreographer Kate Wallich’s dance company the YC as it depicts the end of the world and its resulting lack of rules, boundaries, and constraints. The Seattle-based musician and Wallich previously collaborated on a dance project The Sun Still Burns Here in 2019 where Perfume Genius wrote for and performed in.

“It started as a really somber ballad. It was very minimal and very slow. And then it turned into this beast of a song. I started writing about when you are in such a dark place that you don’t even remember what goodness is or what anything feels like. And so, the idea was having someone describe that to you, because you forgot or can’t get to it,” writes Perfume Genius.
