Real-life dancing astronaut to perform first DJ set in space

Does music sound better or different from space? On Aug. 13, a few thousand members of this galaxy will find out.

In just a few months, the first-ever DJ set in space will take place, courtesy of Luca Parmitano, a member of the European Astronaut Corps. The astronaut will be performing a set from the International Space Station, which will be live-streamed thousands of miles away to attendees of WORLD CLUB DOME Cruise Edition, which will house 3,000 attendees on a luxury cruise ship.

Promoters BigCityBeats (who are hosting the cruise) and German artist Le Shuuk have been prepping Parmitano for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, teaching him to produce and mix for his set. Though the cruise attendees will be the only ones to view the performance live, here’s hoping others will also be able to get their hands on the footage from far, far away.
