Record Collecting: How does vinyl stand up in today’s digital world?

Commercial vinyl first appeared around the 1930s and 1940s and the format has ebbed and flowed through popularity until recently peaking again in sales globally. So why are these simple plastic discs still a must-have for any music listener some 80+ years later?

Talk to anyone who calls themselves a music fan, artist or anything in between and they’ll tell you, it just sounds better… and who are we to disagree with that?

In an effort to find out just exactly why vinyl keeps defying the odds in a more and more digitalised world we spoke with a record shop owner, local producers and a label head.

They tell us how it connects with audiences, what to look out for when collecting and above all, about the community driving it!

This video was powered by our good friends at Jagermeister who are looking to Save The Night! This will be the first of two episodes as part of our Stoney Adventures series.
