Renowned Amoeba Music to keep Hollywood location closed amidst coronavirus
Amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, beloved record store chain Amoeba Music plans to keep its Hollywood location closed. Just last week, the company launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise funding for keeping the store open. But in a tweet posted on April 27, they announced that, unfortunately, the Hollywood store must remain closed through the fall when they move into their new location. The GoFundMe campaign raised more than $200,000, but failed to meet the desired $400,000 goal.
Released in an official statement on their website, the company noted that “this situation has been forced on all of us, and we feel this decision is the most responsible and practical one.”
During lockdown and social distancing safety measures, Amoeba Records is one of many businesses facing increasingly large hardships. For more details on the move, visit their website.
It is with a very heavy heart that we must announce that the massive impact from COVID-19 has forced Amoeba Hollywood to remain closed until we move to our new location this fall.
We are devastated. We know you are too.
