SebastiAn crosses borders with new single, 'Beograd'

Marked priority, sent from somewhere between Serbia and France, electro producer SebastiAn delivers his third single in just as many months, which he dubs “Beograd.”

“I wrote the track while I was in Belgrade for a few days. I was inspired by the idea of making a festive clubbing track, somehow empowered by the Slavic intensity,” divulged the Serbian-French musician on the release.

“Beograd” doesn’t pull any punches, and shows its hand early. The topline and vocal harmonies conjure a distinct Eastern European rave influence, while the percussion and finger-flickin’ bassline root the track in the widely beloved French house sound. It may be straightforward, even slightly formulaic, but the consonance found between the two motifs is an invariably difficult sound to ignore.

Although SebastiAn’s original material has been far and few between since his debut LP of 2011, the Ed Banger staple has kept busy, producing tracks for Frank Ocean, Fall Out Boy and Charlotte Gainsbourg, while still attributing the infrequent remix to his own catalog. SebastiAn returns to form October 25, however, as he is set to release his sophomore LP, Thirst.
