The short film ‘When the Music Ends’ offers a stark portrayal of sexual harassment within the electronic music industry, addressing a pervasive issue. This five-minute production, spearheaded by Berlin-based Spilled Milk and directed by Mo Kanaan, brings to light the often-silenced voices of harassment survivors in the nightlife scene.

British DJ and producer Rebekah lends her industry expertise as executive producer. The film draws inspiration from a comprehensive study by the Electronic Music Inclusion Initiative (EMII), which uncovered 615 incidents across 28 countries. These ranged from subtle microaggressions to overt physical violations, with marginalized communities bearing the brunt of such experiences.

‘When the Music Ends’ provides an “explicitly eye-opening account” of the challenges faced by individuals in global nightlife settings. It highlights current issues and delves into the long-lasting physical and psychological impact on victims.

A dedicated website has been launched to complement the film’s release. This platform will serve as a hub for upcoming panels, discussions, and fundraising events planned for 2025, furthering the conversation on this critical issue.
