Steve Aoki & Darren Criss transform 'Crash Into Me' into bubble gum pop

The über popular 90s anthem “Crash Into Me,” originally penned by Dave Matthews Band, has been targeted by Steve Aoki and Darren Criss for a 2019 rinsing. They’ve taken it upon themselves to transform the folk-tinged rock pop tune into pure bubble gum fit for the modern young listener; the original’s mellowed guitar harmonies are synthesized into the goose-like synths prevalent in today’s EDM and pop worlds, while the pitched-down tempo adds a breezy effect that feels fit for outdoor listening. It might not be the most groundbreaking tune in its arrangement, but the idea of taking two vastly different genres of music and meshing them into one is certainly a fun one and speaks to the collaborators’ interest in evolving their artistry.
