Stream the first Chromatics album since 2012
Chromatics have released their fifth studio album, Closer To Grey—their first album since their 2012’s Kill For Love LP. Lo-fi, indie synthscapes encapsulate the sounds of the 12-track project with Ruth Radelet’s vocals curating a dissident atmosphere alternating between the foreground and background. The producer of the group, Johnny Jewel, had his imprint, Italians Do It Better, release the album.
Although this is their first album release in seven years, the group consisting of Ruth Radelet (vocals, guitar, synths), Adam Miller (guitar, vocoder), Nat Walker (drums, synths), and Johnny Jewel (producer, multi-instrumentalist) released an EP in 2018, Cameras, and three singles this year “I Can Never Be Myself When You’re Around,” “Petals,” and “Time Rider.” They’ve also made references to an unreleased album, Dear Tommy, that was supposed to be released proceeding their 2012 Kill For Love project. It has yet to see the light of day.
