Summer Camp Music Festival ficially released the first round artists to perform at Scamp ’18, and holy cow, are we in for a treat! Traditionally, Summer Camp which is held over Memorial Day weekend is known as a “jam band” fest. But it truly is extremely diverse, peppered with music from most genres. While the fest seems to target the jam band scene, it also caters heavily to the EDM and rap/hip-hop crowds. Bands , , and play year after year. Hip-hop acts such as Run the Jewels, Outkast, Waka Flocka and Probcause have kept Scampers fresh and poppin’ in past years. But what really keeps us up all night is the bumping bass, trap and dubstep. Big Gigantic, Gramatik, , Pretty Lights, Ganja White Night, and have blessed our ears at Summer Camp’s previous years. And with a three part lineup reveal, our patience is really challenged to wait and see who all will be there this year.
So here it is fam, part one Summer Camp Music Festival 2018! As you can see, bands moe. and Umphrey’s McGee will be playing multiple sets throughout the weekend. But just look at that first released headliner, Diplo! The Grammy award-winning producer not only has his solo career but somehow juggles touring with Major Lazer and manages Mad Decent Records. And we can’t forget he’s part that duo, Jack U. As excited as we are for Diplo alone, we can’t help but wonder if Skrillex would appear for a secret Jack U set? , a British sound master and composer, is another artist we are looking forward to seeing live! He’s well-known for ambient electronica, but his live sets are heavy with dubstep, including glitch-hop and trip-hop sounds. His visuals are just as incredible as his music, featuring visual art by Aaron Brooks, Alex & Allyson Grey and Android Jones. We were blown away by Tipper’s set at North Coast in Chicago last year and can’t wait to see him again at Scamp in 2018. Another top-notch DJ/producer on the lineup? : king grime! Definitely one the first artists who comes to mind for dirty, grimy remixes and sick originals. His sets are extremely exciting, with loud bass, trap and hip-hop influences, and lots breakdowns that are dark and perfect to get down to. Other artists interest on this lineup include and Zomboy. MIJA’s vibe will take you back to an arcade with beats reminiscent DDR and 8-bit visuals that are totally ‘kawaii’. She’s been killing it for four years now playing fests such as Bonnaroo, Shaky Beats, and more. Zomboy’s highly-successful “Rott N’ Roll Tour” was filled with banger after banger, and his dubstep makes our heads spin: definitely a set not to miss! And this is just the beginning! Two more scheduled lineup releases will drop even more names to make us swoon. In the meantime, start charging your LED kicks, planning your fam’s totem and updating your packing list!
