After an alarmingly high number of reported sexual assaults, festival organizers have taken the unfortunate yet necessary decision to cancel the 2018 edition of Bråvalla, Sweden’s largest music festival.
The four-day event took place this year from June 28 – July 1, with police being notified of 23 sexual assaults and 4 rapes over the span of the festival. Not just an issue for this year’s event, 2016 carried 5 reported rapes from this festival. A rising concern for the festival, ticket sales have declined over the past year from 52,000 in 2016 to 45,000 in 2017.
