Sydney selector Luen shares ravey debut EP
Luen is a young head in an old game but certainly teaching the guard a couple new tricks with her relentless DJing schedule and now, her own self-titled and self-released EP.
The ‘Luen’ EP doesn’t follow the rules either with four tracks of contemporary techno that feature stripped sounds next to curious samples, all crafted in the bedroom and built for 3am dance-floors. There’s also a remix from Patch Free who’s released a collaborative thing on Butter Sessions so you know it’s legit and also happens to be Luen’s IRL partner!
That isn’t all either with a national and regional tour announce around Australia and a stack of free workshops for girls, female identifying trans and non-binary aspiring DJs off the success of her early workshops that were booked out in 5 minutes.
“With an increased awareness over the last few years around the lack of females being booked for events and festivals (thanks in part to call-outs such as @lineupswithoutmales), there are more promoters and booking agents than ever before looking to be actively inclusive of women. I’m proud to offer my skills and knowledge to help women, trans and non-binary become part of the community — and teach them the vital skills of Djing so they can add their voices and selections to the music industry across the country.”
