The Blessed Madonna returns to Chicago’s smartbar as guest resident

She was the club’s first woman booker.

smartbar, the renowned Chicago club, has announced The Blessed Madonna as a guest resident for 2024. The DJ and producer, previously the club’s first female booker and once a musical director, joins a lineup including Eris Drew, DJ Seinfeld, and Ron Trent, alongside main residents Ariel Zetina, Derrick Carter, Brenda, and DJ Heather.

The Blessed Madonna’s return underscores her impact on inclusivity within the club scene, having diversified smartbar’s lineup and launched the Daphne festival in 2015. Named after the legendary electronic musician Daphne Oram, the festival served as a platform to showcase the immense talents of women and nonbinary artists, amplifying their voices within the electronic music community.

In a statement shared via social media, smartbar expressed their profound excitement at welcoming back The Blessed Madonna. “We still believe! and we are so excited to welcome the blessed madonna back home as a 2024 guest resident.

One of the most celebrated DJs of her time, thanks to her eclectic, joyous sets – which can encompass anything from classic electro and new wave to the latest techno and house white labels.

We haven’t lost dancing with this one.. catch marea at the club very soon”
