The Magician drops off sumptuous collection of ‘Ready to Love’ remixes
The Magician’s “Ready to Love” tapped into the quintessential soul of a house single in its use of a midtempo beat arrangement, and bold, undergirding piano chords. The upbeat, feel good character of the track unsurprisingly attracted several producers who threw their hats into the remix ring to submit their reinventive takes on “Ready to Love.” The Magician coalesces three revamps of his original on Ready to Love (The Remixes). The first of three entities featured on the collection of reworks, A-Trak offers a beat-driven version that deepens the house nature of “Ready to Love” at the midway point, where A-Trak adds a layer of underground funk to The Magician’s effort through his use of elements like finger cymbols.
Next up is Mercer, who dresses “Ready to Love” up in nu-disco sound. Aevion provides a formidable finale to Ready to Love (The Remixes), with his viscous re-envisioning of The Magician’s original, closing out a grouping of remixes that streamers will surely be “ready to love,” in the eponymous fashion of the production’s title.
Listeners in the tri-state area can catch The Magician live on May 15, at Elsewhere in Brooklyn, New York, where the enigmatic artist will conclude his US tour. Secure tickets to the show, here.
