The Prodigy wrapped 2017 with a new recording deal with BMG Rights Management and the announcement of a new single and seventh artist album on the way. A few months past the expected date to hear more information, the electronic trio has just announced details behind the upcoming release.
Accompanied by a lead single with a coordinating video “Need Somel” has launched the road and campaign that will lead to The Prodigy’s upcoming album, No Tourists. Produced by band frontman Liam Howlett in his home studio in King’s Cross, London, the song — and album — will feature a variety of collaborative efforts from the whole band. In “Need Some1,” this energy comes through in the track’s futuristic, badass energy and vocal sample from Loleatta Holloway.
“‘Need Some1’ demonstrates the thing about our band that I love: it’s multi-sided,” says Howlett, “I wanted to write something that had downtempo swagger, but still felt dangerous.”
It’s been nearly three years since The Prodigy released new music, with their 2015 album The Day Is My Enemy serving as a reminder of the group’s respected status in the electronic dance music world. No Tourists will be released wide digitally and in a limited vinyl run on November 2nd.
