The Red Hot Chili Peppers announce new album in works with John Frusciante

Following the announcement of the band’s reunion with former guitarist John Frusciante, the Red Hot Chili Peppers have revealed a new album is on its way. The Chili Peppers’ latest studio album The Getaway was delivered in 2016. In a new interview with Rolling Stone, drummer Chad Smith divulged a few details about Frusciante’s return and its impact on future Chili Peppers’ activity—most significantly noting that the group is working on new music.

“I was given strict orders for this interview: ‘DON’T TALK ABOUT THE BAND.’ But, yes, John is back in the band, and everyone knows that. We’re psyched. The festivals are the only shows booked. For now, we’ll mostly be concentrating on new songs and writing a new record. We’re all real excited to make new music,” says Smith.

The upcoming album will mark more than ten years since Frusciante played in the band after his departure in 2009. The Chili Peppers colored lineup history has seen Frusciante at its center as one of the most iconic and beloved guitarists in modern rock history. His participation in albums Californication, Blood Sugar Sex Magik, By the Way, and more were instrumental to both the legacy and success of the band.
