Thousands of Ultra Music Festival attendees left stranded without transportation after first day
The first day of Ultra Music Festival had some obstacles to overcome its first day on the Virginia Key. After the festival was booted from their original location within Miami’s Brickell District, its controversial move to its new island home has received mixed reactions, with many concerned about the after-effects of the festival’s presence. With thousands of festival goers attempting to leave the island at the end of the night, attendees have taken to social media to blast the festival for the disorganization in leaving the venue.
Ultra had organized shuttle busses to transport attendees to and from the venue, however the island offers a singular route available to pedestrian traffic. Reports of an accident along the shuttle route has halted traffic upon the bridge, leaving attendees forced to walk over a mile to get to the mainland.
The festival has already come under hot water by local residents, fearing the colossal violations of noise by-laws and environmental degradation over time. Reported to be an approximate hour walk from the festival grounds to the mainland, attendees should be prepared ahead of time for the remaining festival dates.
