Thundercat drops the funk on Jimmy Kimmel Live ahead of upcoming LP – EDM All Day

Thundercat joined Jimmy Kimmel Live this week, previewing his highly sought after fourth album with a performance of the soulful and socially provocative “Black Qualls.” Fans in attendance were delighted to see the California based musician accompanied by an all-star cast of Steve Lacy, Steve Arrington, and Flying Lotus for the album’s steamy second single.

Donning his bubblegum bass, Thundercat and co. find their flow with funky stabs and chords reminiscent of the great Steely Dan, who may not be the first act you’d associate with a Brainfeeder artist. That being said, Thundercat’s distinguished musicianship is on full display here, making fans all the more excited for the upcoming It Is What It Is, which features contributions from Louis Cole, Ty Dolla $ign, and Zack Fox. The release is scheduled for April 3.
