Wax Motif links with Diddy for his imprint's debut single, 'Divided Souls'
The Australian-bred, LA-based Wax Motif has recently launched his new very own label, Divided Souls. Wax wasted no time giving the outfit a proper christening, with his expedient release of new native namesake track featuring Sean “Diddy” Combs. “Divided Souls” runs with a house intro that quickly leads into an unabashed monologue, Diddy in the driver’s seat. The sermon denotes how songs are too short to really resonate with people, tipping his cap to DJs who play out the 20-minute versions of tracks.
The house track is aimed towards the live audiences who turn up at the surreptitious after-hour spots and the artists who don’t writhe to people please. Puff Daddy’s soapbox rides above tantalizing synths, waiting on edge for the house hook filled with a running bass, offset high end plucks, and that hallowed four-on-the-floor kick-snare house rhythm.
The track is set to appear on the G-house authority’s forthcoming album. The LP is still in the works, though will of course see a native Divided Souls release.
