You can now study music and make beats by the beach

If you’ve been flirting with the idea of studying music more passionately, then why not do it where the water and warm weather is? Southern Cross University is offering its reputable Bachelor of Contemporary Music course at Coomera, right at the doorstep of the Surfers Paradise, as well as south in Lismore nearby Byron Bay in Northern NSW.

The two campuses combined offer over 13 decked out recording studios for students to be creative in. The course facilities include the freedom to use composition and specialised mixing studios. At Coomera Creative Campus there are full recording facilities with acoustic treatment and two large studios with C24 mixing consoles and external FX units. In Lismore, students get access to Southern Cross University’s flagship Studio A that features a large-format console in the control room and separate rooms for drums, vocals and more.

The Bachelor of Contemporary Music offers students a variety of skills and career paths including performer, songwriter, producer, sound engineer, educator and session musician. On the music business side, the degree offers the skills to start and grow a career as a musical director, events promoter and/or a venue manager.

The music degree isn’t untested with a solid list of graduates including notably singer-songwriter BUOY who recently featured on What So Not track ‘Stuck In Orbit’, composer and musician Yantra de Vilder, the band WHARVES as well Matt Smith of Thirsty Merc to name a few.

Outside of music and learning time, students at the Lismore campus enjoy access to an on-campus gym and heated indoor pool, 3-level library/learning center and can visit the nearby koala rehabilitation center, the Blackmore’s garden and stroll along the campus’s rainforest walkways.

So if you’ve been considering making music a more serious thing or even thinking about a sea change in 2020, check out Southern Cross University’s Bachelor of Contemporary Music course.
