Justin Bieber and Ed Sheeran pair up once again for 'I Don't Care'

Justin Bieber is back on his songwriting horse, and he’s enlisted former A-list collaborator Ed Sheeran for the cause. Together, the two have crafted a brand new single, “I Don’t Care”—which, despite its lyrical simplicity, seems to carry a more profound theme on mental health and relationships. It tells a tale of Bieber’s “crippling anxiety” at a party where he’s “told he’s supposed to be.” These morbid themes are somewhat contradictory to the background track’s breezy instrumentation and major key.

Luckily, the refrain by Bieber and Sheeran indicate that thanks to their lovers, they can deal with any bad experiences coming their way. The optimism is uplifting, setting the song up to be a summer hit by the two titans. The single seems additionally inspired by both singers’ recent romantic developments; both have gotten married within the past year.

Bieber and Sheeran last collaborated on 2015’s “Love Yourself,” which appeared on the former’s last LP. During a surprise cameo at Ariana Grande’s Weekend 2 Coachella performance, the singer confirmed that a new album was on its way.
