Illenium, Tyler, the Creator claim coveted spots on annual Forbes '30 Under 30' list
Forbes recently released their annual 30 Under 30 list, which in recent years has increasingly shown love to the day’s top electronic music producers. From Krewella and DJ Snake entering the class in 2016, and ZEDD in 2017, it’s no secret that electronic music has penetrated the global music market, and is ultimately here to stay. This year’s edition, judged by superstar duo The Chainsmokers, features 28-year-old fellow EDM superstar Illenium, along with Tyler, the Creator, Lil Nas X, and Megan Thee Stallion, among notable others.
Illenium quickly rose to fame as a result of his emotional spin on future bass and melodic dubstep originals. 2019 was his biggest year yet, featuring the release of his Ascend LP, which peaked at No. 14 on the Billboard Top 200, and the accumulation of over one billion streams across all platforms. Additionally, Illenium joined a small and prestigious group of musicians this year, becoming one of few electronic music acts to sell out Madison Square Garden during his headlining Ascend tour. Congratulations to Illenium on a wildly successful year—see the full Forbes list here.
