Charli XCX reunites with Troye Sivan for newest single from forthcoming LP, '2099'
Charli XCX has enlisted pop singer and previous collaborator Troye Sivan for the latest single from her forthcoming album Charli. The track is called “2099,” and Charli XCX writes on her Twitter that the track takes fans to the future with Sivan.
The track opens with Sivan’s humming vocals surrounded by a pulsing drum backdrop. Charli XCX joins the fold after Sivan’s introduction, taking the track into its pop-centric drop. Both artists’ vocal lines are heavily synthesized, fittingly creating a futuristic effect for the song, which tastefully aligns with the pop forward thinker’s unique profile. The final single from Charli lands hot off the heels of XCX and Clairo’s “February 2017,” as the album nears its official release.
Charli is set to feature 15 tracks, and the compilation highlights the collaborative nature of Charli XCX’s artistry with Lizzo, Kim Petras, Big Freedia and more featured on the album’s tracklist. The LP will be released in full on September 13 Atlantic Records.
