New World Sound put sensual spin on The Weeknd's 'High For This' [Stream]

New World Sound delve deep in The Weeknd’s catalog for their next re-imaginative endeavor: a remix of the seasoned crooner’s “High For This.” Hailing from The Weeknd’s 2012 compilation album, Trilogy, “High For This” receives a hazy rinse from the production duo, who first gained traction with their 2013 single, “Flute.”

New World Sound’s revision is as intensive as it is suave. The pair adjust the pace of The Weeknd’s languid original, adding a slightly accelerated beat that mounts in a tantalizing fashion. Guitar riffs constitute another new element in New World Sound’s take; the rugged chords augment the sultry character of the remix.

New World Sound’s most transformative alteration, however, lies in the vocal. The pair swap out The Weeknd’s piercingly pure soprano for a filmy vocal, rife with nuance. The breathy quality of the alternative vocal complements the newfound sensuousness of New World’s revamp, which arrives as a barely recognizable, but highly potent success.
