‘Desire: The Carl Craig Story’ set to feature at Tribeca Film Festival

The film explores Craig’s career, his love for Detroit, and his impact on techno music.

Electronic music music pioneer, Carl Craig, is set to feature at the Tribeca Film Festival from June 5-16, 2024, with ‘Desire: The Carl Craig Story.’ The documentary, directed by Jean-Cosme Delaloye and premiering on June 12th, delves into Craig’s career, his affection for Detroit, and his widespread influence on techno music.

Produced by Dan Wechsler of Switzerland’s Bord Cadre Films and Andreas Roald of the U.K.’s Sovereign Films, the film showcases collaborations with artists like Gilles Peterson and Laurent Garnier. It has received backing from the Federal Office of Culture (Switzerland) and Cinéforom (Geneva).

Carl Craig was born into a middle-class African American family in Detroit, where his parents nurtured his artistic interests. His versatile techno sound has graced stages worldwide, including at the Montreux Jazz Festival and Carnegie Hall. Now, after a 35-year career, his influence has spread to the visual arts, with installations displayed at LA’s MOCA and Dia Beacon in NY.
