Hudson Mohawke and Lunice reunite for first TNGHT cut in six years, 'Serpent'
At long last, THGHT is back.
Back in 2013, Hudson Mohawke and Lunice indefinitely went their separate creative ways at arguably the top of their joint game. The producers had joined forces back in 2011 and in no time, the duo were starting a trap movement that would largely consume electronic dance music for the next two years. In fact, they were largely considered to be the genre’s brightest torch bearers. TNGHT built a blistering catalog of rattling trap products, and even managed to grab production credits on Kanye West’s maximalist opus Yeezus, but as quickly as TNGHT came, the duo dissolved into indeterminate radio silence… until now.

Beyond the occasional Twitter rumblings over the years, each of which spark significant rumors of the TNGHT project’s revival, there have been no signs of Lunice/HudMo reunion, until the artwork for what we now know to be “Serpent” quietly appeared online. Days later, we have a pummeling, experimental cut that clinks and clatters over disjointed percussion patterns, broken up with banshee howling vocal cuts. Whatever it is—it marks the return of TNGHT. And signals to the idea there’s likely more material underway from the newly returned trap heroes. Enjoy.
