Is it the Eurodance Era? “Monster” is an excellent tour de force for Don and Felix Jaehn

• Hard-hitting Eurodance hit
• Future House vibe, reworked with more underground impressions
• Great step outside the comfort zone

“Monster” is… quite a lot of things.

First and foremost, it’s an Eurodance banger with impressive old-school vibes and a vocal that really grabs your attention. Let me emphasize: the vocal is simply perfect.

But “Monster” is more than just a song; it’s a project filled with fun and passion. As Don Diablo expressed on his website, “Monster is more than just a track; it’s a message of hope, strength, and solidarity, and I’m proud to be part of this project.” And let’s not forget Felix Jaehn‘s mission to raise awareness about the LGBTQ community in EDM, a noble cause following his coming out in 2021.

Indeed, “Monster” infuses these queer vibes into the old-school Eurodance framework and vocal selection, a perspective that’s refreshing in the scene. This is Eurodance done right, with a modern twist (we’ll get there soon) and a genuine nod to the genre’s decades-old roots. And if it carries a positive message of freedom, all the better!

Don Diablo has embraced this spirit wonderfully. While Felix Jaehn’s influence permeates the entire atmosphere, it’s the bassline, tinged with Future House elements, that adds a unique flair to “Monster,” setting it apart. Energetic and underground yet undeniably catchy, it’s primed to be a summer anthem. It’s singable, with a beautiful message, and easy to dance to. The buildup hints at a Future House drop before abruptly changing course.

Typically, I’m not a fan of this type of vocal in Future House tracks, but “Monster” won me over completely. It’s simply spectacular.

Here’s to hoping for the best for this fantastic release, as it brings a refreshing touch to both Eurodance nostalgia and the broader EDM scene.
