James Blake shares ‘science’ powered album to help you sleep
Electronic crooner James Blake keeps knocking over interesting milestones as he moves from punchy ballads to mainstream pop releases and now, science powered sleep albums.
The latest release dubbed ‘Wind Down’ is just that, a science leaning album that’ll help you into a deep, deep sleep. It comes together with German company Endel who looks to “democratise wellness by making AI-powered mindfulness accessible to all” through ”personalized, adaptive soundscapes to reduce stress, improve sleep, and boost productivity”.
A quick glance shows the app taking in real-world factors such as heartbeat, weather and exercise to create a personalised soundscape which seems pretty cool. Their name might seem familiar having worked on Grimes’ ‘AI Lullaby’ back in 2019 as well as with American singer Miguel.
Blake also seemed impressed by the companies innovative resources explaining;
“The Wind Down soundscape I created with Endel lets me explore the more ambient side of my music and create a project to support people in a new way. It’s mesmerizing to hear how my music blends with the science-based sounds of Endel’s AI and I think we’ve invented something not just beautiful or even meaningful, but truly practical.”
This isn’t of course the first ambient music we’ve heard from James Blake with the outro ”Lullaby for My Insomniac” to his 2019 album ‘Assume Form’ created as a calm exit from the album’s electronic pulse.
