MNTRA explores self-reflection and growth in new album ‘Hey, How Are You?’

MNTRA has released his debut album, ‘Hey, How Are You?’ under the label, What To Do. The LP comprises 11 tracks spanning various electronic music styles, from house to drum & bass. It is also accompanied by a short film directed by the artist himself.
‘Hey, How Are You?’ marks a significant moment in MNTRA’s career, showcasing his evolved sound and innovative style. The album is the artist’s answer to the question, ‘Hey, how are you?’. He explains that the record reflects his experiences of self-reflection, struggle, growth, and failure. Encapsulating the challenges and victories of being an artist, lover, and friend in the present day.
The first single, ‘Waiting’, featuring Victoria Rae, has received positive feedback from prominent DJs like Steve Lawler, Chris Lake, among others. The second single, ‘Spiraling’, also featuring Rae, captures the emotional highs and lows associated with relationships and creativity.
Each track on the album provides a distinct answer to the title’s question. ‘Umm…’ addresses the uncertainty of transitions, ‘Inside My Mind’ delves into the connection between internal thoughts and external realities, and ‘Surrender’, with NOZU, centers on accepting love through letting go. Also, songs like ‘U&ME’ and ‘Passive Goodbyes’ explore the complexities of relationships and parting, while ‘I.D.K.’ with AiDO, and ‘It’s Alright’ with MITSUø reflect on the highs and lows of daily life and friendship. ‘I’m Fine’, featuring Dernis, The Kid, underscores the importance of self-love, and the final track ‘Need You’ emphasizes the necessity for companionship and support.
