Settlement reached in The Gaslamp Killer's sexual assault case
In 2017, The Gaslamp Killer found himself in a scandalous situation after Chelsea Tadros alleged he’d sexually assaulted her after a show in July of 2013. The two seemed to have connected with one another and settled their dispute out of court, however, according to a statement on the producer’s social media channels on July 26.
“After engaging in heartfelt dicussions with each other about the event of July 5, 2013,William Bensussen and Chelsea Tadros have decided it is their mutual desire to move on with their lives and put this lawsuit behind them,” expressed the statement..
The statement maintained that Tadros was not in a place to consent at the time of the interaction, but that she’d acknowledged she could have been drugged by anyone in the audience. Bensussen continued to press that if he’d known Tadros wasn’t able to properly consent, he wouldn’t have engaged her in sexual activity. No money was exchanged during this mutual settlement.
Their drama in court began shortly after Tadros alleged the assault episode on Twitter, which led The Gaslamp Killer to promptly file a defamation case. Tadros followed suit, filing a case against Bensussen for rape. Both parties shared contentious documents and claims through their lawyers on social media through the process.
