The Chemical Brothers share emotional tribute to Keith Flint at Glastonbury

Glastonbury’s triumphant 2019 edition brought a number of highlights, including Stormzy‘s history-making performance, styled to the nines with a custom vest designed by Banksy. Though, the landmark UK festival went on this year with palpable sadness in the air with The Prodigy‘s absence following the death of frontman Keith Flint. The legendary British dance group were scheduled for their fourth Glastonbury performance since 1995 prior to Flint’s passing. Instead, another venerated UK electronic outfit dedicated a moment of their highly anticipated Saturday night performance to the late Flint.

The Chemical Brothers, playing their 12th performance at Worthy Farm, closed their performance with hallmark hit “Block Rockin’ Beats,” behind them Flint’s iconic, toothy smile stamped on the LEDs, captioned, “In memory of Keith Flint 1969-2019.”

Following Flint’s shocking death, The Chemical Brothers spoke to NME about the beloved rave factotum, saying, “The Prodigy were always kind and supportive. They’d managed to make their band encapsulate that feeling that connected us to dance music; escape and abandonment. Keith embodied this spirit. What he represented was so indestructible and he was just this complete life force, but on the inside he was really hurting.”
